RVS. We keep you moving.
HGV and commercial vehicle services — roadside, mobile or workshop. Shropshire, Wales, Herefordshire and beyond.
About us

Small enough to care. Big enough to cope.
RVS is a family business built on over 33 years of hands-on experience in HGV and commercial vehicle repair, recovery and maintenance. We started with one man and a mobile workshop. Today we're a growing team with a fully equipped workshop, MOT bays, an HGV ATF lane and a 24/7 recovery operation — and we still answer our own phones.
Whether you run a single treasured vehicle or a fleet of 50, you'll get the same thing from us every time. Honest workmanship. Straight talking. A job done properly.
That's not a promise. It's just how we work.

RVS is now an approved Class 4 & 7 MOT Testing Centre
We're proud to announce that Ruby Vehicle Services is now an approved Class 4 & 7 MOT testing centre, right here at Tomlins Yard, Halfway House.
That means we can now MOT everything from standard cars through to large vans and motorhomes, alongside the HGV servicing, repair, and recovery work we've always done. It's the next step in a facility we've been building from the ground up — and one we're genuinely proud to open the doors on.
Whether it's your car, your van, or your fleet, you can now book your MOT with a team you already know and trust.

Curtis Steps Up for Local Prom Night

At RVS, we're used to getting calls about lorries and last-minute breakdowns — but this one was a little different.
When a local girl found herself without transport to her prom at the last minute, we got a call. Curtis didn't hesitate. Lorry washed, smart shirt on, and off he went — no fuss, no drama, just because it needed doing.
We're not sharing this because we want a pat on the back. We're sharing it because it's exactly the kind of thing this business is built on — not just the big commercial jobs, but showing up for the moments that matter in our own community too.
We wish her the most magical night. She looked absolutely beautiful — and we're told the lorry scrubbed up pretty well too. 🚛
Ruby Vehicle Services Ltd are excited to share the story of our move to Halfway House. Over the past 12 months, we've been relocating the main part of the business into the historic T. O. Tomlins yard — the iconic brick-built garage that's stood for 100 years. As a small family business ourselves, we're proud to be working alongside the Tomlins family in such a special location.
The site sits right off the A458, the main artery route into Mid Wales from the A5 around Shrewsbury — ideal for customers in both light and heavy haulage.
With the move came a real step up in what we can offer. We've built a welcoming reception area with proper welfare facilities for staff and customers alike.
On the workshop side, we're now an approved Class 4 & 7 MOT testing centre, with an ATF lane and dedicated drive through brake test lane still in the pipeline. With DVSA moving toward more frequent loaded brake tests, drivers will be able to make a small detour already loaded and brakes warmed up, and be in and out quickly with minimal impact on their workload. A test trailer and weights will be available for artic units and unloaded trucks too, and a one-way system to keep traffic moving smoothly in and out of the yard.
We've also expanded our vehicle storage capacity, with a larger yard under 24-hour CCTV — available to recovery network partners and work providers, and well placed as a meeting point for onward relay legs.
A huge thank you to our brilliant team, who kept the wheels turning for our customers over this past year of building and moving. We're proud of the young team we've built, and we can't wait to welcome customers old and new to the new site.
Look out for the RVS logo next time you're on the A458 — or call in, we'd love to show you around.

IVR AGM and Gala Dinner
March 2023

We all had a ball at the IVR Gala dinner. The whole team attended with their partners.
We are all very proud of Curtis and wade who were both nominated by Matt from Exceed Safety for the Jack Ovenden Award for Outstanding Student of The year. They were among 4 finalists all receiving an award at the gala dinner, presented by Nick Ovenden of the Institute of Vehicle Recovery.

PAS 43 and ISO 9001
When we first started RVS, we were determined to build a business that could hold its own in the industry however small in the general scheme of things and aiming for PAS 43 and ISO 9001 was a huge goal of ours. You can read about both standards by clicking the links below. They are designed to ensure businesses trade at set standards, giving customers, employees and the general public confidence that standards of safety and integrity are being maintained.
We gained these certifications in Early 2022, just 3 and a half years after we opened with just one man and a mobile workshop, and we are very happy to report that our first annual audit was successful and you can view our current certificate here.
